Red Wine Cake

If you have never tried box cake before and thought they might taste nasty... Think again! Here is a simple cake recipe with a touch of "homemade" style!



1 box                    Yellow cake mix

1 box                    Instant vanilla pudding mix

2 tsp                    Cinnamon

1 cup                   Red wine {divided}

1/2 cup                Water

1/2 cup                Canola oil

4 large                 Eggs

1 stick                  Unsalted butter

1 cup                    Sugar



1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees & butter a bundt pan.


2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, cinnamon, 1/2 cup red wine, water, canola oil & eggs. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined & smooth.


3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan & bake for 45 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. 


4. While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, heat the butter, sugar & remaining 1/2 cup of red wine until the sugar is dissolved.


5.  When the cake is done & while still in the pan, pour most of the glaze over the cake, letting it slowly absorb into it. When cool, invert the cake onto a serving plate & pour the remaining glaze over it. Serve with freshly whipped cream.
