Red Wine Bolognese

This particular red wine based Bolognese recipe is super easy and sure to be a fast family favorite.



1 lb.               ground beef
1/2 lb.            ground sausage
2 14 oz.         cans of diced tomatoes
1/2 cup         red wine
2 Tbsp          olive oil
1                    medium onion diced
5                    garlic cloves minced
1 tsp             oregano
1 tsp             basil
1 bay             leaf
1 Tbsp         sugar
parmesan cheese (grated)


1) Begin by pouring two tablespoons of olive oil in a pan on medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic cloves, stir until tender.

2) Add ground beef and sausage along with the oregano, basil, and a teaspoon of salt and 1/2 tsp of pepper.

3) Brown the beef and sausage. Add the two cans of diced tomatoes (or sub in 3 cups of fresh tomatoes) and the bay leaf. Now carefully pour in the wine and the Tablespoon of sugar to the mixture and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4) Adjust seasonings to taste and serve over your favorite form of pasta and top with grated parmesan cheese.
